ABOUT US.

“Our mission is to Love God, Make Disciples, and Be Great Neighbors to the community and world around us.”

DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY CHURCH

We believe that God has uniquely gifted and wired each individual to make an extraordinary impact in the Kingdom of God.  Our vision is to be a church that unearths, empowers, and leverages the God-given gifts in each person to reach our city, one block at a time.

Everything we do at Downtown Community Church operates in light of our mission. We have three primary ministry programs, each one serving a distinct, but not mutually exclusive, aspect of our mission:

  • The initial way we introduce people into a relationship with Jesus is through our Sunday worship gatherings.  Our hope is that as people hear Gospel-centered messages, they would know God’s love for them and in obedience, give their lives to Him. We believe that our time together on Sundays is for us to meet as a collective body, leverage our time to preach the Gospel, and send people out to do the same. Join us for Sunday at 9:15am, 11:00am & 8:00pm.

  • Our belief is that spiritual growth happens as smaller groups of people meet regularly and live life together.  We gather throughout the week in community groups to foster community, form discipleship relationships, discuss the Scriptures, hold one another accountable, and pray for each other.  The primary movement of discipleship in our church happens through community groups.

  • We try to connect as many people as possible in opportunities to serve and build relationships with the community around our church in order to embody the heart of Jesus in ministry to the marginalized. We have weekly and monthly opportunities for our church to engage in ministry to people groups in our community that are often times in disadvantaged situations. Our two main programs are HOPE, an after school program on Wednesdays and Project Tallahassee, a monthly service project connected to local non-profits.

Who We Are.

WHAT WE BELIEVE.

First Tier Beliefs

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write every word of Scripture.

  • We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Holy Trinity (the Son of God) who became a human being to reveal God to humanity and become the Savior of the lost world.

  • We believe the Holy Spirit is the third part of the Trinity and is equal to the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every believer. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under the control of the Spirit on a daily basis.

  • We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, who became man born of a virgin, yet was without sin. We believe he offered Himself as a living sacrifice on the cross, died, and rose from the dead to satisfy God’s justice and reconcile us to God.

  • We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result of disobedience, human beings are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

  • We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

  • We believe man’s soul was created to exist forever. His soul will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God, through forgiveness and salvation. When you die, you will either spend eternity in Heaven or Hell. Eternal separation from God happens in Hell. Eternal union with God occurs in Heaven.

  • We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. Through obedience to the Word of God and yielding oneself to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

  • We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.
